Media Trends to Watch This Week – February 21

Here are the items from the perpetually evolving advertising world that caught our eye this week….
Facebook adds audience targeting by job title. This will be another way for B2B marketers to connect, creating a nice little run at LinkedIn.
Facebook spending $16 billion to buy WhatsApp. Largest internet deal since Time Warner and AOL in 2001. Why? For one reason, WhatsApp has over 450 million active users, which it gained faster than any company in history.

Here’s a great article on why marketers should promote Tweets. From the guy who sold Omniture to Adobe.

Vending machines are going interactive. This is a great place-based solution.

FCC working on pushing net neutrality. Let’s hope they get this worked out before any Comcast/Time Warner merger. Otherwise, our bet is we’ll all pay more for data-heavy content downloading. Which will totally bum me out for my House of Cards viewing.
